Waskita Consortium Wins Tender on Terminal 3 Soetta Airport

JAKARTA: The consortium between PT Waskita Karya Tbk and the Korean company Hyundai Corp won the tender for the expansion of Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta Airport owned by PT Angkasa Pura II worth IDR4.7 trillion. Angkasa Pura II Corporate Secretary Trisno Heryadi has officially announced the tender winner for the airport construction on the company’s website. Kawahpejaya Indonesia KSO won after setting aside its rival, Adhi-Power JO. "It has been announced that the winner is Kawahapejaya Indonesia KSO, the Waskita and Korean company consortium. We are preparing a contract agreement," he said, Monday (02/25). The expansion for terminal 3 building is done to increase the capacity of the airport. Soekarno–Hatta Airport served 51.5 million passengers in 2011 but the airport’s capacity was only 22 million passengers per year. Moreover, the airport expansion is done to improve the service. Angkasa Pura II is expected that the terminal expansion will increase the capacity from 4 million passengers to 25 million passengers. Trisno said the contract signing for the project will be done as soon as possible so that construction can be started. In the winner announcement, the terminal 3 expansion working time is scheduled for 850 days. Contacted separately, PT Waskita Karya Tbk welcomed the announcement and is confident to complete the mega project owned by Angkasa Pura II. Production General Manager and Investor Relation for PT Waskita Karya Agus Sugiono said the company has prepared the human resources to work on the IDR4.7 trillion-worth project. He explained that the design on terminal 3 building expansion refers to some of the world’s best international airports such as South Korea’s Suncheon or Singapore’s Changi. "Waskita will lead the project with Hyundai Corp with the composition of 68% and 42% respectively," said Agus. The Company has been working on Kualanamu International Airport, North Sumatra worth IDR394 billion, and Juanda International Airport, Surabaya, valued at IDR388 billion. (T07/TW)
